takram: furin

urin is an interactive lighting installation by takram design and
engineering. the installation was created for okamura
design space r and built with lights arranged on a grid of equilateral
triangles. each of the 280 lights is a glass wind
chime and hung from a different height to create an undulating wave of
light. the chimes light up and make a chime
noise as users walk underneath. the effect is much like a firefly and each
chime sound is a different tone, high for
those lights hung high and low for those at the lower level. as users walk
around their movement and direction
affects the sound and enables them to play the space like an instrument.
