Knuthenlund

"Knuthenlund Estate in Lolland has operated an organic farm since 2007, striving to offer high quality organic foods and at the same time taking care of the unique nature, that is characteristic for the Danish island of Lolland. In the Easter of 2009, Knuthenlund opened a whole new dairy farm in one of the former barns on the estate. The dairy farm is based on milk from the estate’s own organic milking sheep and goats. The fresh milk is handled very carefully to preserve its taste and structure.

Knuthenlund puts pride in affecting the environment as little as possible. This approach is also important in the packaging design process. This is why Knuthenlund Sheep’s Brie is sold in boxes made of sustainable poplar wood. And the brie is wrapped in paper made by potato starch.  Knuthenlund’s Sheep’s and Goat’s Milk is sold in reusable glass bottles.

In the printing process, it has been important to limit the use of printing colour. Knuthenlund also offers gift boxes made by unprocessed wood. The inspiration came from the old fashioned hay boxes. The box are isolated with the estate’s own hay and are therefore in line with Knuthenlund’s ambition to run a farm that both shows consideration for product quality and the environment."

The building was commissioned by the City of London Corporation to replace
an existing facility dating from the 1950s. The ambitious brief called for a
new structure to accommodate the state-of-the-art technology required to
provide a full information service for the millions of tourists, residents
and workers who pass through the area each year; it also called for a
dynamic contemporary structure which would become a local landmark in its
own right.

New Puma packaging by Yves Behar

I think this packaging is fantastic. This <b>Clever Little Bag</b>, designed
by San Francisco designer Yves Béhar of <a href="http://www.fuseproject.com/
<view-source:http://www.fuseproject.com/> ">Fuseproject</a>, uses a
recyclable heat-woven bag and a flat-pack cardboard tray that provides
structure. This new product uses 65% less cardboard than a standard shoe
box, has no laminated printing and does not contain tissue paper. Although I
will miss the shoebox - the archetype of stored memories and hidden
treasures - I do like the storage bag just as much.<br><br>From
Fuseproject:<br>"For the last 21 months we have been thinking about
shoeboxes: how to fold them, how to ship them and how to reduce them. In the
end, we decided to get rid of them altogether because along the way we
discovered a new design solutionS.a ³clever little bag².

Why so clever? By
providing structure to a cardboard sheet, the bag uses 65% less cardboard
than the standard shoe box, has no laminated printing, no tissue paper,
takes up less space and weighs less in shipping, and replaces the plastic
retail bag. Now happy Puma customers will take home the clever little one
instead. Oh, and that little bag is non-woven which means less work and
waste (it is stitched with heat), and after accompanying you in your
suitcase wherever you may go, our little friend is even recyclable."
